Watermark Cleanup
Background: We have 4 different types of watermark and all are redirecting differently and are being tracked differently. We should be consistent in the way we are tracking our watermarks and where they’re redirecting.
Watermark 1
- All free apps
- Redirects to the homepage, except for plugins that have new plugin landing pages (form builder, instagram Feed, multiSlider, countdownTimer, Popup, Comments, fileEmbed, eCommerce, socialMediaIcons, paypalButton, social feed, gallery (including aliases), that should redirect to the respective plugin landing pages.
- Tracked using utm params: https://www.powr.io/?utm_source=watermark&utm_medium=plugin&utm_campaign=watermark_2019&utm_content={{app_name}}
Watermark 2
- All free apps when shared in view mode
- Redirects to standalone
- Tracked using src param: ?src=share-page
- Note: This is not giving us conversion data for sign ups or upgrades. We should track this consistently using ?utm_source=watermark&utm_medium=share-page&utm_campaign=watermark_2019&utm_content={{app_name}}
Watermark 3
- Form Builder (and aliases) only
- Redirects to Homepage
- Tracked using utm params (different utm_medium compared with the above utm params): https://www.powr.io/?utm_source=watermark&utm_medium=thankyoupage&utm_campaign=watermark_2019&utm_content={{app_name}}
Watermark 4
- Free Countdown Timer, Hit Counter and Social Media Icons apps
- Redirects to CountdownTimer -> CountdownTimer; Hit counter -> Countdown Timer; Social media icons -> social media icons app landing pages.
- Tracked using param: ?plugin={{app_name}}
- Note: We should track this consistently using ?utm_source=watermark&utm_medium=powr-logo&utm_campaign=watermark_2019&utm_content={{app_name}}
Proposed Action Items:
- Track ALL watermark traffic using utm params
- Redirect ‘thankyoupage’ and ‘share-page’ form watermark traffic to the new landing page as well as a time-based A/B.
- Think about other apps where we can replicate ‘thank you page’ type logic.
